    Despite its continued aging, the epic poem Beowulf is still currently covered in modern English classes, allowing the reader to unveil and discuss some of the literary themes associated throughout the epic poem. A debatable theme associated with the Anglo-Saxon style poem is the question of whether or not a great warrior can also be a prominent leader of his country. A warrior is usually associated with being victorious in difficult situations, automatically associating himself as a great leader or king of a kingdom. However, heroic actions cannot simply determine a great leader, but rather the character traits unique to each great warrior are necessary to produce a great leader. Traits such as: God-like strength, the courage to challenge everyone, loyalty and courtesy towards others, invoking a dominant respect within their subordinates. In Beowulf, this can be seen in the personal development of Beowulf's true character, from being a young warrior at first to becoming a mature leader of a kingdom. In opposition, a different argument can be made in favor of Hrothgar, as he can be seen as a leader lacking the right priorities given his responsibilities. Rather than focusing on important conflicts, we can see that Hrothgar is more supportive of his personal cheerfulness. Like many young adults in today's society, Beowulf believed himself to be invincible and faced challenges whose outcome was more than likely death, even if something tragic happened. an error has occurred. However, with Beowulf's divine trait of strength and courage comparable to that of a lion, Beowulf showed what is necessary in a great king during his difficult swim with Breca. Although displaying a certain immaturity, Beowulf describes his difficulties in discovering the icy waters. Hrothgar and Beowulf share the same traits as a great leader; that of loyalty, strength, courage and courtesy. The main difference between the two is that Beowulf is a great warrior and Hrothgar simply is not. This does not mean that Hrothgar is a terrible king, but in comparison, Beowulf can be considered a much stronger leader. Over time, Beowulf became an exemplary leader, capable of making hasty decisions for the best of his subjects, stemming from the fundamental traits learned and developed as a great warrior..
