  • Essay / History of Immunization - 810

For the eleven million babies born each day in the United States, it is recommended that they receive an extensive series of vaccines to protect against eleven different diseases (Herlihy, Hagood) . Vaccinations are a biological prevention that improves immunity against a particular disease. They have been around for many years and carry risks and benefits associated with receiving them. Most children start receiving these vaccines at birth. The most common vaccines they receive in the first months of life are those for hepatitis B, rotavirus, whooping cough, influenza and pneumococcus. These vaccinations are supposed to prevent infants from catching these diseases, but do they expose them to other risks? Many may agree that they are useful, but others say that they are harmful to the child. Are vaccinations responsible for the conception of the disease in children? Vaccines have been around for many years. The first vaccination was discovered by Edward Jenner in 1796. He discovered the smallpox vaccine which guaranteed children immunity against this deadly virus. Even then, the safety of the vaccine was controversial. However, no one really cared if it was safe or not because they wanted something that would put an end to this deadly virus. Subsequently, many other vaccines appeared in an attempt to end other diseases at that time. The components of vaccines are made up of toxins that are considered toxic to the body. These toxins are then administered to the child through the bloodstream starting 12 years after the child's birth. Right now, their immune system isn't even fully developed. Why administer the vaccine if the child's immune system is not fully developed? Is it...... middle of paper ...... vaccinations seem to be more helpful than harmful. Think about it, would you rather your child have a strong immune system to fight off diseases, or would you rather they suffer from not being protected against these diseases. It is your choice and your child's life is in your hands when determining whether vaccination should be administered. Today, most children in the United States lead much healthier lives, and parents live with much less anxiety and worry about childhood infections. In conclusion, more children are vaccinated than those who are not. Can we even prove that vaccinations are effective? Parents should pay attention to new issues raised regarding vaccination in order to better understand vaccination. We have been taught that vaccines are very useful, but it is up to you to decide your fate..
