Creating an Amateur PerformanceOur performed piece was based on the poem titled Amber written by Jennie Fontana. This was our stimulus and my first impression of the poem was of the sea and the waves. This was the main theme of the piece we had to perform. To introduce us to the final piece, we first had to understand what it was about, in musical terms. We learned basic music terms and what they meant and tried to create a small piece that demonstrated at least one of its characteristics. The piece I created was based on tempo and pitch. I played a basic set of notes on the keyboard, then speeded them up, then stopped (using silence), then went up an octave. I did it three times. Everyone else in the group did this so we could have some sonic recognition of each sound. After that, we had to learn simple ways to write music in terms we could understand. I've taken guitar lessons before, so I know the basic chords and notes, but with the lesson we learned how to write it in a way that uses numbers and lines, TAB. The way we were taught to correct a minimalist form of scoring was to produce points. Let's say you used a drum and counted your beats, one, two, three, four. And every third of the four beats, you hit your drum. We wrote it like this: This allowed us to remember the rhythm of the piece and who should play what. This was very useful, especially with four people playing instruments. We used this form of notation in a piece we created. This was where we all had percussion instruments and had to compose 4 lines of 4 measures. We had to use ...... middle of paper ...... when he left he came back 20 years later and he had become munich. Some of the funniest lines we could use in the final performance because they would lower the tone of the overall performance, which was fair enough, but I thought there were a few that would have brought the house down. When it came to the final performance there was almost nothing that hadn't been done, the star dance looked almost perfect and the singing was also very successful. We had wonderful acting, which made a point and made everyone laugh. The stage was set up for the dancers above and there were also the lights which had to be placed quite well to ensure that everyone was highlighted and seen correctly. The whole show was great and everything went very well. There was no problem and everyone really appreciated it. Bibliography:
