are ready to graduate and have all the resources they need to graduate, but may simply not succeed due to the fact that they are under so much pressure to pass. Careers also uses standardized state tests in order to decide whether or not a person can pursue a certain career. By the time students have reached their careers, they have taken so many standardized tests that do not fully prepare them for adult life. Many standardized tests are used for this purpose to decide whether a student is ready for the real world, although in reality it is not a good factor used to determine whether a student is prepared for adult life and for the possible career choice he desires. Although standardized tests are supposed to reflect what students have learned, they often do not do so to their fullest potential. What some educators may not consider are the limited resources and ways teachers have to get information across. Standardized testing not only has a negative effect on the elements listed above, but also on learning styles. Many standardized tests are created to improve student achievement, but studies show that the testing format has not improved this at all. Standardized tests also do not incorporate all different types of learning and, in this case, not all test scores are measured accurately, which can make the results very inaccurate. Many studies show that older high school students tend not to take the required standardized test but rather “have fun” with the test by filling in answer bubbles with pictures (Tests 3).
