    Social media comes from two types of terms: “social” and “media”. The term social refers to the basic human need to connect with other humans, while media refers to those we use to connect with other humans. The term social media is attributed to Chris Shirpel, who states that the term social media is used to describe an online tool and utilities that enable online communication of information, participation and collaboration. In social media, there are several categories such as blogs, social networking sites, wikis, podcasting, video streaming and social bookmarking. The first category of social media is blogs. The blog is used by the user as a diary where other people can comment on it. Apart from that, the blog is also the information field of some people. Second, social networking sites allow people to interact with other people using the online network. Social networking sites have become the most important in recent years because they can be used through an Android cell phone, for example Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr. The third category is wikis, a wiki essentially a website that allows users to add, modify, edit and delete content from the website. The fourth category is podcasting and video streaming. Podcasting is a form of distribution of sound recordings over the Internet. An example of podcasting is the Internet “radio station”. Video streaming is the same as podcasting, where video streaming is done in the form of video files downloaded via the Internet. The last category is social bookmarking, which means storing all links. By having social bookmarking, it could help the user to find those particular websites easily. The example of social bookmarking is Delicious and Digg. Social media focuses on people's ability to collaborate and share information online. Social media should help people stay in touch, even if they live far away from each other. In social media, this can lead to negative aspects when these tools are misused by the user and they interfere with the user's privacy. This shows that the user will face many more threats and risks if they do not take active steps to protect their privacy, rather than relying on the policies of social networking sites. (Krishnamurthy & Wills, 2008). In Malaysia, social media used by the population is 66% compared to 2008.
