    For this conference, I arrived a little late due to bad weather. However, I didn't miss much since the speaker started with a review of where we left off in the last session. The lecture continued by introducing us to the approach that the scientific method is empirical. The term empiricism is coined on a process where knowledge is verified through means of experimentation and observation. With the help of another YouTube video, I saw how these great scientists applied the scientific method using numerous observations and experiments to arrive at their theories which are now facts. I learned how William Harvey tested blood flow in a human body. Before this class, I had no idea who this guy was, so I took it upon myself to do some additional research on this work. Another video explained how Galileo tested the weight of two objects: one light and one heavy. He saw that without air resistance, both objects would fall at the same time. It is obvious that their procedures were not based on observations but on experiments where they could be certain and prove their theory. New terms were added to my scientific vocabulary list, such as Observation which I misinterpreted. I always assumed this was limited to the 5 human senses, but this can be taken care of with tools. With such tools and our senses, we can collect both qualitative and quantitative data. The other term -experimentation has been used and is known for testing, to be able to collect data that will answer the hypothesis. For example, if you want to test the boiling point of water, you can conduct an experiment, not an observation. Although the experiment tests and discovers what exists, the researcher can sometimes skew the information to their liking to prove a hypothesis. As we neared the end of the lecture, we were introduced to the laws and theory. I encountered some difficulty in differentiating between a theory and a law. Further research was done and I came across a website that clarified both notions at length. I understood that a law is an observation which knows no exceptions because it is an understandable fact documented after observations. The law of gravity, which states that what goes up must come down, is a perfect example. On the other hand, a theory is more of a clarification or explanation of the law.
