    The music industry is an ever-changing, revolutionary entertainment industry for the masses. Music provides entertainment to all masses due to the variety of genres produced. Music is a very profitable and complex industry. Music has become a global industry for musical artists to express their art in the form of songs for the masses. Music pleases not only the ears but all aspects of a person. Music allows individuals to explore and let their imaginations expand when listening to a song. Over the years, the industry has seen dramatic changes. Whether it's genres, forms of distribution or even the impact of the artist. The industry is diverse and constantly evolving over the years. Over the past 20 years, the industry has changed through technological breakthroughs and adoptions. One important change that has occurred is the digital distribution of music. Today, in our society, music is purchased via the Internet. The simplicity of having an entire library of music on one device was embraced rather than having stacks of CDs or cassettes. The emergence of the Mp3 file has changed the way we listen to music. MP3s are portable digital songs, offering high quality sound and cheaper. Essentially by eliminating the middleman, digital music has taken control of music away from the major record labels and put the power back in the hands of the listener. Large companies such as Apple's iTunes created digital music distribution. CNNMoney mentions: “iTunes is currently responsible for 63% of all digital music sales” (CNNMoney). They established the standard of 99 cents for a single song, which was quickly adopted by major music companies. Music will continue to evolve over time as the industry finds new ways to use the Internet. Major labels have found that adapting to new industry practices has brought them continued change.
