Othello is a famous literal work of Shakespeare. In most of his literal writings, he addresses ideas and concepts of human behavior, ranging from love to hatred to revenge and many other aspects (Domínguez-Rue and Mrotzekb, p. 671) . In Othello, he presents yet another masterpiece which tells the tragedy of the noble hero cast down and destroyed by a human fault of jealousy. Othello is a domestic tragedy and encompasses different timeless themes which include: love, revenge, hatred, jealousy and trust (Feather, p. 244). This essay focuses on the theme of revenge and how different characters display vengeance in their actions. He is a perfect example of what man should not be and what he should strive to avoid. Iago is a bad friend, a traitor, a liar and a schemer. All of these character traits are used to bring out Iago's malicious nature and to create a vivid picture of people in society who may present themselves as friends but actually hate being happy or successful. At first glance, Iago appears to be normal and not that evil at all, but as the reader digs deeper into the plot, the reader is confronted with the shocking character traits portrayed by Iago. When he says that he is not who he is, he better explains to the reader that they should expect completely opposite traits from him. (Shakespeare and Alexander, act 1, scene 1, line 64). He may be thought to be an honest person, but it turns out that Iago feels that Cassio is ignorant and not well suited to be in the middle of paper...... the wrongs they are doing to them. end up having much worse results, even for the avenger. This is clearly evidenced in Othello through Iago and what he faces after his acts of revenge against Othello. Othello, who is a noble hero, is also slain as a result of revenge. The vengeful nature must be conquered and tamed if man is to advance in life; rather, acts of forgiveness and love must replace the desire to avenge a wrongdoing. identify a generic structure in Shakespeare's four major tragedies.
