  • Essay / John Calvin and the Reformation - 1371

The definition of predestination is “the belief that everything that will happen has already been decided by God or fate and cannot be changed.” Ephesians 1:11-12; “In Christ we also have obtained an inheritance, being destined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to his counsel and will, 12 so that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might live for him. praise of his glory.” In Christ the path of predestination can be fulfilled, without Christ a path of inevitable destruction. In discussing predestination, we must realize that Christ is the center and focal point of our purpose. However, God has given humanity the free will to choose good or evil, God offers us two choices: life or death, God's way or the evil way. James 1:14-15, But one is tempted by one's own desire, being drawn and enticed by it; 15 then when this desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and this sin, when fully developed, gives birth to death. When we discuss predestination we must observe it from a spiritual perspective, it is not something we can reason with because the price of sin is so high.
