    Wherever you heard TJ Ford, you would always hear about his amazing and flashy pieces. However, due to serious injuries, the superstar had to retire. Ford was a great player during his NCAA tenure and was already breaking records during his freshman year. Some of his accolades include Texas Wood Player of the Year when he took his team, the Texas Longhorns, to the final four. Ford had many accomplishments in the NBA, but he did not reach his full potential as he had hoped in college. Ford suffered injuries throughout his NBA career such as his injured tailbone, which he suffered during his rookie season and the injury that left him retired was his spinal injury . Even after months of recovery, he still felt the after-effects of his injury and had to take extra precautions. The injury to his tailbone has made Ford very injury prone, a minor injury could cause him to end his career. The career-ending injury would be a simple nudge in the back from Knicks point guard Baron Davis. TJ Ford said: "If it's someone else, it's just normal play... But because of me and my condition, a simple elbow in the back has a different outcome than hit someone else on the back.” (1) Spinal cord injuries are excruciating, both emotional and physical, for those who suffer this damage. The spinal cord has countless nerves that run down the back and carry signals from the body to the brain. These injuries are usually caused by a blow or dislocation of a vertebra on or around the spinal cord. The spinal cord usually does not pass through the vertebrae, but the pieces of vertebrae put pressure on the nerves, causing very sharp pain.
