  • Essay / « Matilda” by Danny Devito - 736

Based on the article by Daniel Siegel “If I had bad parents, would I be a bad parent too? Children with insecure attachments often have a “feeling of uncertainty” with others. Her relationships with other schoolchildren and with Mrs. Honey demonstrate that Matilda, despite her age, not only has confidence in herself, but also does not show any feelings of anxiety and insecurity. Although reading books might have been a mental escape for her to get away from her family problems, Matilda also shows no signs of separation, as she prepared the adoption papers long before meeting Mrs. Honey . This supports the idea that a child's personality and behavior is multifactorial, a combination of genetic, environmental and developmental factors.
