  • Essay / Week 8 of my Teaching Practices - 1719

I attend Kendall College where I am currently taking this Ece 401 course, where I had five days to implement five different lesson plans and write my final reflection on what I have observed and what I have learned. I conducted my fieldwork at Emit Elementary School on the south side of Chicago, in a sparsely populated urban area. The host teacher's name is Ms. Coleman. Ms. Coleman has about 30 students in her class, she has 16 girls and 14 boys. Among these 30 students, there are five students with ADHD and two assistant teachers in the class. The expectations I set for myself were first I woke up in the morning and prayed that I would do my best. I ate breakfast so I wouldn't get dizzy and could assess the students properly and observe which students got the best possible result. Next, I made sure I had all my materials and information for the week. I made sure to present everything to the host teacher and teaching assistants to get positive feedback. I made sure to include each child's needs and ensure that each child was comfortable. Throughout the week I thought I was well prepared. I don't think I had to change anything all week. I think I was ready and well prepared because I planned this week in advance and I also had a lot of practice and I had help from my peers, my boss, my teacher. reception and my teacher, I did a great job. Now about space, I think I didn't do well in this area because I think the students should have had a little more space to move and be able to breathe, so it was uncomfortable for the students and me I have to say all week I couldn't change location mid week because the principle said it was short term and I should have planned much earlier...... middle of paper ......I would have engaged in a more reflective practice. The result was that students understood what other people do in everyday life, why they do it and why it is important to do it. Yes, the results are what I expected. I learned that my students were doing an excellent job. At first I thought it was too much for them, but I observed that they noticed each skill. My teaching plans went well and they did an excellent job. Children need time and honesty and a teacher willing to reach out to all students. Conclusion: The host teacher gave me excellent criticism regarding construction. She told me to make sure I had an extra plan in case things went wrong. She told me to always plan ahead. She told me that students love it when teachers work with them and encourage them to go further. I have more confidence in myself and I do my lesson like when I started this course..
