    Joint Terrorism Task ForceWhat is a Joint Terrorism Task Force, or JTTF, is a counterterrorism program formed by various law enforcement agencies, including: the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Transportation and Transportation Administration security, U.S. Secret Service, Department of State Diplomatic Security Service, state and local legal services, and specialized agencies such as the Railroad Police. The JTTF engages in surveillance, control and interrogation as part of their activities. History In 1980, the first joint counterterrorism task force was established in New York. It all started with ten FBI special agents and ten New York City police detectives. The creation of this joint counterterrorism task force was a result of the increasing number of terrorist bombings in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
