    They studied whites, blacks, and Latinos while taking into consideration neighborhood, mental health status, and family structure. The study showed that black families with maternal depression had little effect on children's behavior. It has been hypothesized that in a black family, the extended family works together because their culture is about caring for each other. In the other two categories, maternal depression had a significant effect on child behavior. When addressing neighborhood, there were significant effects on children's behavior in both black and white neighborhoods, but in Latino communities, neighborhood did not appear to affect children's behavior. It has been hypothesized that Latinos have a strong sense of loyalty and parents have a high degree of parental involvement, which may include limiting the child's interactions with peers.
