ObesityObesity means having too much body fat. This is not the same as being overweight, which means weighing too much. A person can be overweight because of excess muscle, bone, or water, as well as excess fat. (Bing health). Obesity is a major problem occurring in some parts of the world. Currently, the fattest nation is America. Many people are overweight because they exercise too little or not at all. This is especially true in countries like America, where people are bombarded with fast food stores on virtually every street corner. Obesity can not only cause health problems but also mental problems. Obese people may view themselves as useless human beings because they are too fat and cannot accomplish anything because of their weight. Although this is incorrect, many people believe it and end up committing suicide. In this article, we will describe the causes of obesity and ways to combat the “eternal epidemic”. The cause of obesity is the fact that we, as a nation, consume high-calorie foods and, combined with poor exercise habits, causes a person to be overweight. This equates to 16.9 teaspoons of sugar per day, not forgetting carbohydrates (one teaspoon of sugar). As we call it "carbohydrates", it is the most common form of energy that the body uses for its daily needs. When carbohydrates are consumed, the body converts them into glycogen. Glycogen is stored in muscles and the liver to produce energy when needed. When too many carbohydrates enter the body and overfill the glycogen stores already present, the body then converts the excess carbohydrates into fat and stores them in the body. This is one of many factors contributing to excessive water scarcity worldwide, for example in Africa. Here in the United States it's different, we have water everywhere and we waste it. Water is important for our body because it lubricates the joints of the body and gets rid of all the unnecessary metabolic wastes. One way to check if you are drinking enough water is to check the color and quantity of your urine. For example, if your urine is dark and you need to drink more water in small amounts. When your urine is pale and yellow, your body has returned to a normal state. Water sweating helps disperse heat through the skin. (Sports Nutrition Guide p. 118) During exercise, water absorbs heat from all muscles, disperses it through sweat and regulates body temperature, thereby cooling you. The water in saliva helps break down food, making it easier on the stomach..
