This particular project will be a challenge for me as I have many skills and techniques that I am still developing and learning. Digital art is a clear example of this. Digital art can be difficult to operate because it requires an understanding of the program used in the product design and how to use all of its functions to the fullest in order to receive the most aesthetically pleasing illustrations. Another example of the challenges faced in this project is conveying and educating adolescents suffering from anxiety/depression so that they can cope with these issues and become more enlightened on these issues. Prior Knowledge Before pursuing my personal MYP project, I had gathered a variety of prior knowledge from coursework and school research, which helped me render the picture book storyline and design the characters greatly. simpler. Research Skills Over the past few years, I have learned many effective research skills which I have used while undertaking this project. . The most notable example would be the research technique of using multiple sources to credit certain other sources. Using this research technique, finding useful websites and statistics was effortless and strengthened some of my other research-related skills, such as organizational skills and time management skills. This allowed me to effectively organize and produce a picture book to raise awareness of the issue at hand. Research skills can be learned in many different ways, but the MYP taught me that the majority of them come from books and the Internet, as the latter contain a variety of information and sources that can be manipulated to access new research skills. These are mainly displayed through assignments, dissertations and experiments. The most notable skills that were learned throughout my MYP experience would have to be: data collection, planning, critical analysis and more. PlanningProduct CriteriaThe criteria I created for my product/outcome, being a picture book for teens with anxiety, can be found in [Appendix A]. Thanks to in-depth research and reference to other criteria, I was able to construct my own criteria sheet in order to evaluate the success rate of my project. This criterion laid the foundation for the standard requirement, which I believed to be fair, to obtain a certain grade. Using the information gathered from my research, the overall success of my product can be judged within a threshold. Since every aspect of the multi-dimensional product criteria has been validated and justified by extensive research and information provided by knowledgeable professionals, my adaptations of the product criteria have been made to the number of participants and the amount of money, because more realistic estimates could have been made, closer to the project. Development Process In order to establish a regulated work schedule for this project, my school provided a plan that defined our long-term and short-term goals. However, I found this method quite incomplete and unreliable for my working methods. Instead of using this technique, I used several others that I designed and adapted to my work routines. By using art sharing sites, for example Pinterest, Artstation and Tumblr, I was able to not only collect feedback on my artwork, but also collect references to other people's artwork and skills, as these platforms usually allow artists around the world to develop and grow. learning together, which ultimately brought me closer to my goal and made me a better artist. This allowed me to reflect on my strengths and improve my weaknesses, especially in planning, in order to expand my knowledge and mature further compared to the beginning of this project. Thinking skills Thinking skills are required in all aspects of the IEP. system without exception. A clear example of how I exercised my creative ideas was when I designed the many different characters I would use for the product. This can be seen in the book where I used a two-headed monster (a male head and a female head) to represent the parents. Researching childhood anxiety has taught me how divorce and arguments between parents (which is what the monster represents) is one of many anxiety triggers. This allows me to educate teens on how they can help or escape the problem so it can be resolved. Critical thinking was also implemented in many other tasks and had a great influence on this entire project, teaching me important skills and improving previously learned techniques such as effective planning.
