Today, the big problem in the world is pollution. Scientists are trying to understand how to eliminate the pollution we have created. Chief Seattle, in his “Letter to President Pierce, 1855,” sets out how Indians and whites treat the land differently. He wants the white man to understand that all things are created equal. In the article “The Causes of Pollution and Its Types”, Mian Afaq Tariq discusses air, water, land and noise pollution and how each of them was caused. He wants to educate people so they can start doing their part to help. We should look to the past as a benchmark for the future, but our pollution problems are getting worse instead of better. Chief Seattle warned us about how man cares for the earth. “The white man considers the earth not as his brother, but as his enemy; once he conquers her, he moves on. » (Seattle, 642) The Indians love the calm of empty lands, and the white towns were polluted by the loud noise of the large population. The white man was taking over all the land and killing all the wildlife. At the rate these animals were going, all the animals would disappear and they would have died of starvation. The Indians killed animals and used the land, but there must be a balance between nature and man. The Indians were one with the land and knew how to maintain this balance. There are different types of pollution. Air pollution, also called smog, is caused by fumes emitted by cars, trucks and planes. This is a big problem in big cities like Houston, Texas, and Los Angeles, California. Their populations are very large and everyone drives their own car. The burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and gas, also plays a role. Air pollution can be very dangerous...... middle of paper ......tivity. Educating yourself about pollution issues is very important. . A person cannot do their part if they do not know the problems. There are websites, libraries, and environmentalists available to help people understand and teach how to prevent pollution. Mian Afaq Tariq has excellent arguments about the causes of pollution and what can be done to reduce it. My family and I help by recycling paper, plastic and glass. The world is getting bigger and everyone is using all the natural resources. Hopefully, people will wake up and do their part to save the Earth, before it's too late.
