    The school-to-prison pipeline is a phenomenon that refers to practices and policies that have pushed schoolchildren, particularly those most at risk, out of classrooms and into the juvenile justice system. . This disturbing event indicates that priority is being given to incarceration rather than the education of children. Most alarming is that many of the targeted children have learning disabilities or a history of poverty, abuse or neglect. Instead of being targeted, these children would prefer to benefit from additional counseling and education services. Additionally, the knowledge gained in this course will be incorporated into this article and used to explain the points made. In this dissertation, what will be discussed is the expansion of the zero tolerance policy, the different views on the policy, who is mainly targeted, the effects on minors and any alternative solutions that could alleviate this dismaying event and become a larger problem. . - There are various reasons why many juveniles end up unfairly in the juvenile justice system. The pipeline begins with insufficient resources in public schools. Many children are trapped in second-rate educational environments in which they are placed in overcrowded classrooms, with insufficient funding, a lack of special education services and even textbooks. This failure to meet children's educational needs leads to increased dropout rates, which could also increase the risk of subsequent legal intervention. Surprisingly, some schools may even encourage children to drop out in response to pressures from test-based accountability regimes, which provide incentives to exclude low-performing students in order to improve their overall test scores. Another major reason juveniles end up in juvenile justice. The system is because many schools have incorporated the zero tolerance policy and other extreme school disciplinary rules. In response to violent incidents in schools, such as the Columbine High School massacre, school disciplinary policies have become increasingly harsh. These policies have been adopted at the school, district, and state levels in hopes of keeping students and educators safe. These policies are all based on the zero tolerance policy. While it is understandable that protecting children and teachers is a priority, it is unclear whether these strict policies are effective in improving school safety. Furthermore, educational institutions are supposed to emphasize learning and teaching: it is children who grow and learn more about the world every day. However, today's educational institutions rely primarily on punishment, violence, and misbehavior.
