The company was founded in northern Mexico in 1906 with the opening of the first cement plant, whose world headquarters is also located in the city of San Pedro Garza Garcia. Within forty years, CEMEX could increase its cement production to around 124,000 tonnes per day[2]. In 1989, CEMEX became the top 10 cement producer in the world.
