In the story, the main character is prescribed no work and plenty of sleep, but this does not help him. at all because his obsession with the mysterious person trapped in the wallpaper increases dramatically. The main character's mental health is also directly linked to the author, as the author suffered from the exact same "disease" and struggled with similar dilemmas. The psychology of this story is very similar to the modernist one of Glaspell and Anderson.
