Money that is not spent on necessities, including investments, must be donated. Singer's solution is unrealistic and controversial; it calls into question moral views and people's rights to their own money. Through his use of hypothetical situations, Singer persuades the reader to donate to foreign organizations, but this weakens the argument due to its accusatory tone. Singer's takes an extreme position that if you don't give all your extra money, you are responsible for the death of a child. Some readers might find this insulting and refuse to accept his point of view. Singer successfully refutes many counterarguments, but does not include the effects on America or explain why we should focus on poverty abroad and not our own. This weakens his argument and his message of helping the poor....
