Feminism has had an impact on American society. Some of the benefits include a restructured view of careers, schooling, and privileges achieved by women. The women's movement was the main triumphant movement of the 1960s and 1970s (Epstein 125). However, without the victory of the movement, nothing would be like today. In conclusion, women see themselves differently today than they did thirty years ago (Epstein 125). For example, women are pursuing an endless amount of career options that they would have been deprived of in the past. For example, in 2008, Governor Sarah Palin was Senator John McCain's running mate (Baxter paragraph 1). Thanks to the feminist movement, women like Sarah Palin are striving to make the most of it. Maybe one day in the future the president could be a woman. Women make up fourteen percent of the active duty military (Velasquez 7). Without these fourteen percent, the armed forces could be outnumbered. Women progressed to the point where they could protect their county in beneficial ways. On the other hand, there are more women applying for positions at medical schools across the country (Chambers Paragraph 1). Nowadays, any career can be owned by women. In other words, the movement gave men and women the opportunity to follow their professional preferences. Without the women's movement, women would have been deprived of a prosperous future in a fascinating profession of their choice. In addition, over the years, women have progressed in their studies. For example, women currently represent fifty-seven percent of all students (Marklein, para. 2). This proves that women are capable of succeeding and achieving more than men. As a result, women gained the freedom to aspire to a degree and be independent. Nearly one in four women obtains a baccalaureate, compared to one in seven men (Hechinger paragraph 2). Women have come a long way without even being able to attempt to work to get an education. Without working women, America would struggle to progress and meet the demands of work. Additionally, women make up forty-six percent of the total U.S. workforce (Perkins 1). This is a testament to the fact that women are no longer discriminated against in any aspect of life..
