  • Essay / Why I love planes: F/a-18 Hornet

The first time I looked at a photograph of the F/A-18 Hornet attack aircraft about to break the sound barrier, I felt unprecedented curiosity and passion. Looking at the image, I could almost hear the roar of the engine and feel the piercing speed. I stared, mesmerized, at the white cloud below, caused by atmospheric gases liquefying into a fine mist, and wondered how a 33-ton jet could do such an astonishing thing. My mind turned to all the raw energy, work, and technology that went into creating such a wonderful machine, and I knew I had to investigate further. This moment sparked my intense passion to master the science of aviation and pursue a career in aeronautics. As a first step towards my goal, I collected as much literature as possible on the subject, carefully going through countless articles, books and encyclopedias. Say no to plagiarism. Then, I started putting concepts together, relating them to each other in order to gain a deeper understanding of the topic as a whole. In doing so, I established a solid foundation of knowledge from which other ideas and designs could arise. However, I eventually realized that even though books could teach me all the facts I needed to know, I still had a lot to learn. To gain first-hand experience and conduct a more personal investigation, I attended a regional air show. The first time I looked at the plane, their scale and sophistication impressed me. I spent eight hours in the lounge that day, talking to the pilots, inspecting the flight controls, and feeling the forged steel. Seeing the planes themselves clarified the details I had read about and reignited my passions. This combination of emotion and facts gave me a broader perspective on the subject of aeronautics. As I left the show that evening, I remembered the photography that had initially inspired me and realized that I had just taken a big step forward in my education. Recently, I created a website about military aircraft to further increase my own experience. knowledge and to pass on some of my acquired knowledge to others. I really enjoy talking to other people who share my interests, and the Internet is a perfect way to meet people and have conversations. For the background image, I chose the photograph that sparked my great passion for aeronautics, hoping that it would inspire others as it inspired me. I find it astonishing that a single photograph could transform a latent interest into a raging passion, and yet that is what the photo of the F/A-18 Hornet did to me. My scientific curiosity and dedication created a cascade of energy that I channeled to achieve my goal. Just like the Hornet in the photo, my interest in military aircraft design and manufacturing is heading full speed ahead into a bright future..
