  • Essay / Testosterone and Male Hypogonadism - 1569

    1) General OverviewHypogonadism is a disease/condition in which there is an inappropriate or unacceptable amount of hormones produced by the sex glands in both men and women. This mission submission will focus on male hypogonadism. Male hypogonadism is a condition in which there is a lack of testosterone in the male body. There are 2 focal types of hypogonadism, primary and secondary. In primary hypogonadism, there is a direct dispute within a man's testicles. This means that due to their dysfunction and deficiency, there is inappropriate production of testosterone. In secondary hypogonadism, there is a complication within the endocrine system that sends the signals necessary for testosterone production. The common age range varies greatly for this disease. Over time and decades, testosterone levels in men decline with each generation. This means that the specific common age of this disease is constantly decreasing. Age around 30 and older is the most common time for this condition to develop. However, it can also be found in young people who may suffer from pituitary disorders, mumps orchitis, and other conditions that can have a detrimental effect on the production of their sex hormones. The main hormone involved in this particular condition is testosterone. Testosterone production starts in the brain (hypothalamus) which detects the need for testosterone. It then sends a hormone called gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) to the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland then produces two other hormones called follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). These two hormones travel in the bloodstream to the testicles. At this point, ...... middle of paper ...... as synthetic testosterones pass through needles, any improper disposal of needles can have a negative impact on the environment. Many people tend to dispose of needles incorrectly by simply throwing them in the trash. This is very dangerous since these needles could possibly carry diseases or infections that the user could contain. Additionally, this is a deliberate issue for the environment as it is a complete waste of resources. Needles fall into the category of “sharps,” a medical term used for devices with piercing points or edges that can pierce or cut the skin. Sharps must be disposed of in a certain way because they pose certain health and environmental risks (cardinal spread of disease). From this, one can understand why it is absolutely necessary to properly dispose of synthetic hormones/drugs..
