  • Essay / Variations of knowledge in the arts and natural sciences

The two areas of knowledge that I will explore are the arts and the natural sciences. Regarding this question, my initial view is that the arts are a somewhat controversial field of knowledge due to its subjective nature, because firstly, it can be difficult to accept something as art. Conversely, the natural sciences are a field of knowledge based on objective truths and that is why, when I initially approached this question, I thought that knowledge could be accepted and then rejected when it turned out to be false in this area of knowledge. must use definitional theory to define “knowledge,” that is, “facts, information, and skills acquired through experience or education; theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. However, using definition theory to find the meaning of a word can pose knowledge problems. Indeed, even if the definition may seem correct, there are often borderline cases and counter-examples that we can think of. The main problem with trying to find the meaning of a word using dictionary definitions is that the definition is given by the use of other words. This leaves us trapped in an infinite circle of words, with the same knowledge problems. Definitions between different dictionaries may also differ. , which again presents another knowledge problem that definitions can be subjective. My personal opinion on definition theory is that, although it is beneficial in that it provides an established claim, the knowledge problems it presents are significant enough that it cannot be answered exclusively as a means of understand a word. Regarding the arts, I discovered the question of defining what art is and what it is not. This in turn leads to the problem...... middle of paper ...... scratched truly depends on the area of knowledge that has been explored through this essay. I have noticed that in the arts for example, knowledge is very difficult to accept due to its subjective nature. This can therefore make it virtually impossible to abandon knowledge. In contrast, in the natural sciences, I have noticed that although there may be problems with the validity of information, knowledge is easily accepted once proven. This knowledge is commonly accepted as the laws of science, and once this information is disproven, it is effectively discarded, as it is no longer useful to people. Therefore, I can conclude that we must observe the domain that knowledge is a part of before we can decide whether or not knowledge can be accepted, let alone rejected, due to the subjectivity of the world we live in..
