He has become an iconic image in British culture, influencing several generations of his fans and popular culture in general. One of the main premises of the series is to follow a humanoid alien time traveler, Doctor Who, who, while traveling through time and space, helps humanity, encounters various alien races, and has varied adventures. This program was created as part of a science fiction television genre (Chambliss, 2013). This essay will discuss a representation of technology and science in this series, and the cultural processes that have influenced the way they are presented. It will retrace the entire history of this television series, from its beginnings in 1963 to its current episodes. On the one hand, it will be suggested that technology and science are at the heart of Doctor Who, presenting scientific knowledge and innovations and suggesting their future development. The document will also highlight technological advancements in the production of the series. On the other hand, it will be described how the concepts of science and technology are used in Doctor Who to express a cultural feeling of its time. It will discuss how the program deliberately uses science and technology, in order to educate its audience, question technology and exploit the science fiction genre to create social commentary at any period.
