  • Essay / Reflection Plan for Capstone - 769

IntroductionAs a nursing student, I have many goals that I would like to achieve by the end of 150 hours of my Capstone course. My plan is to take this opportunity to demonstrate my skills and knowledge acquired in previous quarters. I listed seven learning objectives that I wanted to achieve during the capstone experience. On my first capstone day, I reviewed each of them with my preceptor and asked him to provide me with feedback, so that I could use them as a tool to work on. These goals ranged from critical thinking decision making, culture, growth and development, legal and ethical, clinical skills safety/holistic care, evidence-based practice and professionalism, lifelong learning. Critical Thinking and Decision Making Associate personal learning style with NCLEX-RN preparation: Critical thinking and the ability to work collaboratively with the healthcare team are essential to succeed as a nurse and provide the best patient care. A nurse must understand the disease process to fully understand how to care for and organize a plan of care for the assigned patient. This concept will also help me learn and understand better and eventually apply this knowledge to the NCLEX as well. My goal is to demonstrate the use of my critical thinking skills throughout nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation (ADPIE). Much of the nursing school courses, especially in medicine and surgery, were evidence-based that I can now see how to relate to the capstone course and potentially help me pass the NCLEX. Growth and Culture Development Discuss the relevance of personal development stage and culture to career planning: As an American immigrant and future patient advocate, I believe that middle of paper..... . should be involved in patient care alongside other members of the healthcare sector, to increase my learning in addition to benefiting patients. If a nurse comes to work exclusively to do their job, the environment is unsupportive and unproductive, and there will be no development and growth. For this reason, my plan is to be constantly involved in the care of assigned patients, with the healthcare team. My future goal after starting my career is to join committees within my workplace, stay up to date with the latest research, suggest putting some of these findings into practice, and continually update my learning. ConclusionAs a senior nursing student, Capstone is an excellent opportunity to improve the senior student's clinical decision-making and nursing intervention skills. The course designed to bring together all knowledge and skills and apply them to the patient.
