  • Essay / Using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) for Design

The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a graphical language used in many types of system models that shows different views of a system being designed. The UML is used to describe the conceptual view and process view of an automated ticketing system for use by passengers at a railway station and for a computer-controlled videoconferencing system used with video data , audio and IT for participants. The diagrams will show the conceptual and process view of these two systems and justify each of the decisions made in the design. There is an explanation of how the final solution of the four diagrams was created to enable people to perform the tasks they need. An automated ticketing system is used by passengers to order tickets for the station. The automated process will make it easier and time-saving for customers to purchase tickets online and get train timetables. Shown in the conceptual view of the rail system below, customers will need to create an account with name, address, phone number and payment information. For the program to work, customers will need to create their accounts and have access to edit accounts, reserve and cancel tickets, or change ticket dates. In the program, Customer is the class name, with name, address, phone number, and payment being the class attributes. At the bottom of the box, lists the actions that customers can perform such as create the account, edit accounts, etc. When the customer buys a ticket, the ticket must contain information so that the customer can board the train. . The ticket reservation class has the attributes of ticket ID, train location and information identifying the train to be taken...... middle of paper ...... edit information as per needs and interface settings. The interface provides options for the user to choose whether they want to use video, audio, or both. The video conference will start and save the settings for future use as long as the person has an account. Account information is stored on the servers and any online documents needed for the meeting are temporarily stored for a period of time. This keeps space free on the servers for other participants' files, avoiding the need to purchase and install more hard drives. Works Cited Baltzan, P. and Phillips, A. (2009).
