  • Essay / Group Reflection Report - 1144

Most of our group meetings started with bonding and getting to know each other more personally. It's rare to have this opportunity in a professional field, but what seemed to help us was our academic environment and influence. The college environment has a higher rate among 18 - 25 year olds. This manifested itself in our group because our personalities projected the same interests that other ordinary 18-25 year olds might have. For example, at one of our many meetings, some members were waiting for people who were late. During this time, we started talking about theme parks, theme park experiences, social outings, gatherings, etc. The conversation lasted approximately 30 minutes, during which the members present were each able to share their personal experiences. This is an example of group cohesion and the evolution towards a group culture, which could be analyzed through fantastic thematic analysis. The fantasy theme relates to the dynamics of a group which may include inside jokes, shared clues, and other points of shared cohesion. Rather than discussing the group assignment, it helped our group relationship to tell individually shared stories about events that might seem unrelated to the main group.
