  • Essay / A Midsummer Night's Dream - 1888

Your eyelids feel heavy and your mind fogs up, eventually they close completely under the weight of the eyelids and within minutes you have fallen into sleep. You wake up with a vivid image in your mind, but you have no idea what it means. It was just a dream. Whether people remember it or not, everyone dreams. A dream, some will say, is irrelevant; matching images creating nonsense. Others describe a dream as a message that our mind speaks to us. Throughout the day, the mind unconsciously picks up elements of our daily lives, whether thoughts, emotions, ideas or interactions. When we sleep, our brain organizes and analyzes these thoughts and puts them together like a puzzle creating images that we might have missed during our waking hours. The brain naturally resists chaos and is sensitive to order and organization. He therefore sees beyond the chaos and dysfunctions, he begins to matrix things, like the images in the clouds. It is through dreams that these images unravel all the chaos of ordinary daily life and reveal a bizarre and unrealistic world, reflecting the unstable reality in which we actually live. Reality is considered unstable because it is constantly changing and moving. and transform into something else, whether people age, die, or are born. It is an ever-changing factor that people refuse to accept and it is in our dreams that it reveals itself. It is in this dream world that Shakespeare and Carroll use fantastical characters, such as fairies and the White Rabbit, to illustrate the daily interactions one must have in seeking the truth. It is in the courtyard and in the woods, where everything is turned upside down and where what is good is bad and what we know, are no longer...... middle of paper ..... . are continually moving to get somewhere and when they discover that they are looking, they still have to continue. The characters encountered on the journey represent the logical and illogical strangers that people face every day and some can help them while others can tear them down. These interactions are important because every interaction and action affects a person even if it's not so clear. Time is the main factor in the instability of reality. No matter what a person does, time is constantly there and every second is a second gone. The main reason why it is not stable is that it is constantly changing and moving and whether you like it or not, no one can change the weather. In a dream, time is not a factor and the characters encountered may have no meaning and in a dream, just for those few hours, the world may be a perfect and stable place, at least until 'it's time to wake up..
