This theory focuses on critical thinking skills and creates motivation; in turn creates independent learners. Therefore, the student will use a “critical thinking process, rather than how a student can memorize and recite a quantity of information” (Liu and Chen, 2010, p. 65). Each classroom activity is very interactive and very student-centered. The “theory of constructivism asserts that children actively engage in something new and innovative” (Ramesh, 2013, p. 62). This would involve encouraging “children to ask their own questions” (Naylor and Keogh, 1999, p. 101). The conduct of each activity will encourage the student to be responsible. Therefore, this theory helps classrooms to be structured in a way that each student experiences: for example, imagination, interaction and personal reflection. This helps a teacher recognize how each student will use their own prior experiences and knowledge. The goal is therefore to create a classroom environment that provides meaningful learning.
