Hypnosis is another very common form of mental and bodily practices. Hypnosis focuses on the brain. It is primarily used to help drug addicts and people with mental health issues. This technique is used to help someone begin to use their unconscious mind. They are asked to relax at the beginning of the session, then they are removed from their surroundings to begin to focus on an object (Billitterl 57). Many people believe that during hypnosis the person undergoing it sleeps, but this is not true. In fact, the person is very awake and very aware of what is happening in the environment around him. If the patient is not comfortable with what the hypnotist is asking, they simply will not respond (58). Biofeedback teaches how to manage functions such as: brain waves, heart rate, body temperature and some others. Biofeedback was created when two researchers tested a woman's skin temperature while she followed relaxation techniques. During this time, his skin temperature increased by about 10 degrees. After her temperature rose, she noticed that her migraine had disappeared significantly. These researchers then made a biofeedback device and taught many people how to relieve pain using relaxation techniques. A majority of people believed that if one could learn to manage certain functions, many other diseases could be controlled. Biofeedback helps treat problems such as: emotional problems, arrhythmia and asthma (Billiterl 59). Therapeutic touch is part of the group that does not correspond to the mind, body or natural products. This group includes: chiropractic, acupuncture and acupressure. Many of the therapies included in the Healing Touch group are very widely accepted by the mainstream medical field (Billitterl 72) ...... middle of article ...... ago by a physician named Samuel Hahnemann. He didn't like the way medical practices of his day treated their patients. Homeopathy essentially involves giving an unhealthy person a small dose of medicine, which, if given to a healthy person in a larger dose, would produce symptoms of the illness from which the unhealthy person suffers (Billitterl 37). Naturopathy promotes health instead of trying to destroy the disease itself. Naturopathic professionals generally recommend: herbal medicines, homeopathy, acupuncture and some other traditional Chinese medicine techniques (Billitterl 39). Complementary and alternative techniques constitute the new era of medicine. These techniques, combined with traditional medicine, could create a medical revolution. Complementary and alternative medicine techniques help solve many people's medical problems without the side effects of traditional medicine..
