    When choosing a career, I prefer to choose a field that I love rather than a job that pays a high income. If I'm going to be in this job for most of my life, I'd rather it be something I enjoy rather than just for the money. Because I like doing creative things, I chose makeup. I love the process of transforming someone and using products to change their appearance. Most would say the job is made up of girly girls who achieve nothing other than the art of looking pretty, but makeup takes a lot of skill and patience. Depending on how you work and what jobs you choose in the field, you can actually earn a decent amount of money. Part of the industry that I really enjoy is transforming the customer and building their trust. The best part for me is when they feel better about themselves. In most people's eyes, makeup is not considered a very valuable or renowned job; however, this career is in high demand in today's times. There are several areas in which a makeup artist works; behind the scenes of films and photoshoots, formal events, celebrities, etc. Many artists who work with famous clients can become famous among celebrities, which pays very well. Artists often work freelance; working independently. Some work in salons or department stores, do makeup, or work in retail. This career involves flexible and long hours depending on their employment in relation to the chosen field. Any chosen field requires high skills and long hours, it often changes depending on the client. Every client is different and will want a different look, so the artist must have many skills to meet the client's needs. The cost of beauty school can be high, depending on the program and the area where you live; it can reach between 15,000 and 20,000 dollars (makeup artist magazine, 2014). To help cover costs, many schools offer financial aid. Other schools help students find money through scholarships or low-interest loans. After completing the required number of hours, it is important to start planning the next step; your work. Many beauty schools help place their students in salons after they graduate and receive their cosmetology license from the state. Several schools work closely with salons in neighboring communities and salons benefit from an immediate source of trained and motivated stylists to hire. As a student and employee, you benefit from many potential jobs right after graduation..
