Unlike many other Maasai villages in the area, which were built purely for tourism purposes, Kambi ya Chooka is an authentic village founded by local Maasai people. We leave early in the morning with our English-speaking guide. The journey to the village takes about an hour. Just behind Moshi, we leave the asphalt road and continue on bumpy slopes. The path passes dry riverbeds and mighty baobab trees. Along the way, we meet the first Masai. We are visiting a traditional Masai village and therefore ask you to be a respectful host. The Maasai are very open-minded and communicative, however, how open they are to you also depends on you and your social skills. Our English-speaking guide will assist you and translate into Kimassai, as the Maasai themselves generally do not speak English. As you walk through the village with your guide, you have the opportunity to chat with the Maasai people and learn interesting facts about Maasai culture and traditional medicine. You are also invited to taste local Maasai tea and you will have the opportunity to visit a Maasai house. In between you will have a small snack. Next, your guide will take you on a short bush hike, where you will also collect firewood for the evening. Later, around the campfire, you can listen to the fascinating stories of the Maasai and admire the women during a traditional dance. Maybe you are also asked to dance, don't be shy. At the next dinner, we let the day end. You will camp overnight on a magnificent site near the village. We wish to respect the privacy of the Maasai and have therefore opted for this option. Accommodation is in simple but high quality tents. To avoid sacrificing comfort, camping toilets with tents are at your disposal. To wash, there is a bowl of hot water. Before going to bed, you can, in good weather, enjoy the fantastic starry paradise. The next morning, an early but comfortable breakfast is served. As soon as we say goodbye to the villagers, we continue towards Kikuletwa hot springs, which is close to Rundugai village. Kikuletwa Hot Springs is certainly one of the most beautiful places in Tanzania - the hot springs are surrounded by fig trees, palm trees and winding roots - a true hidden paradise. The crystal clear, turquoise waters invite you for a refreshing swim. Although it is called a hot spring, the water in Kikuletwa is not hot, but rather refreshing since the water source comes from the Kilimanjaro mountain itself. Most visitors arrive around noon, but we arrive early in the morning when it is still quiet. Therefore, with a bit of luck, we will spot the blue monkeys in the treetops, before they later disappear into the bush. Keep in mind: this is just a sample.
