    American Immigration PolicyIntroductionAmerican immigration policy is supported by a number of laws, some of which date back to 1798. The laws vary in all kinds of presentations. At the top of the list are security, employment and the quota system. It is worth noting that US immigration policy centers on the brain gain advantage, which is supported by a friendly philanthropic commitment to expand employment opportunities to economically distressed countries. This research will prove that US immigration policy responds to local and global issues, but needs improvement in its focus. The research is defragmented into two main sections; first, the historical section of the immigration section; supported by the discussion. The discussion portion will analyze the issues and suggest possible policy changes.BackgroundSummaryImmigration in the United States can be attributed to demographic changes resulting from the influx of foreigners into the local community. Immigration to the United States is primarily responsible for the development of controversial social, economic, and political aspects. These developments are likely to lead to changes in settlement patterns, significant social mobility, voting patterns and increased levels of crime. Previously, immigration to the United States was largely a matter of white men assisted by people from Southeast Asia; however, recently the main immigrants come from South America, South Asia, the Middle East and Africa. A fairly large number of immigrants are illegal; nevertheless, illegal immigrants can, through immigration policy, be naturalized in the country. More than half of immigrants are in America through family reunification, secondly by employment factors and thirdly by humanitarian reasons...... middle of paper ......permit (2014), the program Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, commonly known as the lottery program, will be abolished. However, in light of this research, such abolition may not be effective enough. It would therefore be preferable for the federal government to strive to implement a more liberal policy; for example, the labor exchange program. This would enable subsequent exchanges of expatriates between different countries. Second, regarding the issue of security, the US administration should strive to reach out to combat hotbeds of terrorism at the international level. Additionally, immigrant security perimeters should be expanded to ensure they operate smoothly. Most terrorists immigrate to the United States posing as investors or students, and not usually as job seekers. Thus, more policy measures should be reinstated in relation to this approach.
