It was the illustration of this whole story. As the story progresses, she presents a lot of perspective and reflection on the mother and very little on the daughter. More importantly, the story shows that the mother doesn't really care what the daughter thinks of her advice; it wasn't a choice whether she followed his advice and became a good daughter and wife in the future or she became a "slut" who didn't follow his tradition. This story will make you wonder if the girl will ever become the perfect daughter her mother wants her to be or if she will get used to American tradition and not be the perfect daughter her mother should be.
