  • Essay / Human Papillomavirus HPV - 904

Genitalia Human papillomavirus (also known as HPV) is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI). Technically, it is not a sexually transmitted disease, but it can lead to other types of HPV. HPV is usually spread during oral, vaginal, or anal sexual activity. This virus is very contagious and if it goes unnoticed, it can be transmitted to partners. One can be sexually abstinent, but the infection will remain in the body and can easily be transmitted once the infected person has genital-to-genital contact with a partner. HPV is also spread equally between heterosexual and homosexual couples. The person who has multiple partners is more likely to spread the virus because they are unaware of their sexual health. The reason there has been an increase in HPV infections is that HPV does not always show physical symptoms (http://www.cdc.gov/hpv/whatishpv.html). Once a person is infected, the body's immune system tries to prevent getting a physical reaction by fighting it with your antibodies, however, if the body is defeated, warts will appear around the infected area in the external body. HPV causes warts which vary from genital warts, common warts, plantar warts and flat warts. Each of the types occurs depending on the contact through which the infected person obtains it. The appearance of warts is also grotesque in appearance and texture. Additionally, these warts can also be painful and prone to bleeding if picked. However, there are some types that do not cause discomfort and go unnoticed, such as genital warts, which is why they go unnoticed by the infected person (www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hpv-infection/ bases/ symptoms).HPV during pregnancy is actually... middle of document......163-overview12.
