(Bangs 1) Elvis not only made significant contributions to the music industry, but he also became the most famous idol in the world and in the United States, Elvis Presley was considered one of the best rock artists most influential rolls of the century. “The King of Rock”, everyone will automatically know you are talking about Elvis Presley. Through his music, Elvis paved the way for African Americans into the world of music, and he fundamentally revolutionized American society and culture. A whole new revolution for the music industry. In the United States, between the 1950s and 1960s, there was segregation between blacks and whites. African Americans suffered from racism, particularly in the South where Elvis Presley grew up. the United States was saturated with Jim Crow laws, which was the name for the racial caste system. Additionally, one of the greatest Supreme Court decisions of the 20th century was Brown v. Board of Education, which brought enormous change to public schools. Before this decision, blacks and whites attended separate schools and used separate spaces like restrooms and movie theaters. This action helped give rise to the civil rights movement (Wallace 107). Although Elvis grew up in the South, where there was great racial discrimination, his environment did not negatively impact him. In fact, he was quite positively inspired by African-American music, but Elvis' family was not the best influence on him.
