    Communication is a vital part of how we interact with each other. Communication is the act or process of using words, sounds, signs, or behaviors to express or exchange information (Webster, 2014). Demonstrative communication can be defined as non-verbal or non-written forms of communication. This form of communication involves elements such as body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, and other gestures that convey a variety of messages. When communicating, the mutual response of the sender and receiver determines the effectiveness, positive or negative interpretation of the message. Listening and responding during this form of communication is essential and impacts how we interact with each other in society. “All verbal communication is affected by the non-verbal that accompanies it, sometimes non-verbal communication can be more meaningful than words (Non-verbal communications, 2010). Facial expressions, such as eye movements or other facial gestures, are meaningful expressions of nonverbal communication. These expressions can express emotions such as joy, fear, anger, interest or annoyance. Verbal communication can express a message, but your facial expression can display or contradict the words expressed. Facial expressions provide multiple clues to the recipient that add to their interpretation of a message. Body language is another form of demonstrative communication. Our posture can send messages without uttering a single word. The way we sit, stand, square our shoulders, cross our hands or arms are mostly involuntary or unconscious gestures, but nevertheless affect how the recipient interprets any message sent.
