  • Essay / United States Immigrants - 778

“These days, I feel like you make a deal with the devil when [someone enters] this country. [They] hand over [their] passport at check-in… Who would want to stay?… In a place where [they] are never welcome, only tolerated… Like [they] are an animal finally house-trained. » (Zadie Smith). This “pact” that Smith speaks of applies to all immigrants arriving in the United States. In America, immigration has always existed. It exists all over the world. Who in America is truly “American”? No one really, except Native Americans. Everyone else was from somewhere in the world, but they had the chance to become Americans without tests or jokes. They didn't have to prove their loyalty to this country and they didn't have to work their whole lives and die without seeing their loved ones one last time. Illegal immigrants should be treated the same as “American” citizens; as loyal Americans. Most people in the United States look at immigrants and think they are bad people, immigrants should be able to live here and not be judged badly, immigrants who cross the border have reasons to cross, that there s Whether legal or illegal crossings, immigrants and their families are affected. and the economy is not seriously affected. Immigrants from different parts of the world come to the United States, legally and illegally, because they have a reason. They are asked why they entered this country even though they have their own country and usually it is to work even though they know they will be considered beggars in this country. They try their best to get a job and work for the rest of their lives while living in the United States. “Bernard Anderson said: “We have to recognize that the enormous numbers [of undocumented immigrants... middle of paper... are not doing any harm to the United States by being here. In the United States, immigrants are not an economic problem and they also have families. U.S. citizens can cross the Mexican border at any time without having to face the consequences like immigrants do. Immigrants cannot cross borders or they risk serious consequences, such as going to prison and/or death. Immigrants would make better citizens than the citizens themselves. They work harder and only care about their own business. American citizens should stop judging immigrants based on their origins and origins. Start judging them on their hard work and how they are treated by immigrants. Works Cited Brooks, Diane L. “Crossing the Borders.” Pavé. May/June 2013. October 28.
