Long neglected and ignored, the Second Amendment has been the subject of much study and sparked much debate. That's when influential people began to think it was a good idea to disarm the civilian population. Confusion and some serious errors began to seduce in the 20th century. This amendment created an obstacle and gave rise to numerous lawsuits due to ignorance of the provisions of the Constitution. The Second Amendment is not clear to many people and is perhaps the most misled amendment. The Second Amendment is the most questionable amendment. James Madison argued that there was no reason to worry about the formation of a federal government because state militias would protect the population from any threats. Madison suggested in 1789 that specific rights of citizens be spelled out in the Bill of Rights (Glantz 2360). Ratified on December 15, 1791, the Bill of Rights included the Second Amendment to the Constitution which reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms , shall not be violated” (Madison 2360). Opponents of existing and proposed laws, including the NRA, Gun Owners of America, and the Second Amendment Foundation, regularly argue that the Second Amendment to the Constitution grants individuals the unrestricted right to “keep and bear arms” (Vernick 1773). In another group, they believe that only the military should have the right to keep and bear arms. Many people have many misinterpretations about gun control. There are many misinterpretations of gun control laws, leading to many fines and deaths. Herman Presser marched through the streets of Chicago leading a parade organized by a group called Lehr und Wehr Verein, without losing sight of our right to defend ourselves. Gun control issues still arise in today's society due to the misuse of guns and weapons. People use them not just as a defense, but as a weapon for themselves and others. Due to the way the amendment is worded, it has sparked a lot of debate and misinterpretation. This issue is one of the oldest issues and is still unresolved today. No matter what happens, there will always be issues regarding gun control. People will continue to own guns in their homes and use them for self-defense, but also as weapons against each other. Additionally, people who are not supposed to own guns, like criminals, will continue to do so. No matter how the amendment is worded, it will continue to cause problems for generations to come. Gun control is a major issue in today's society and has been for generations.
