  • Essay / Kate Chopin's short story "The Storm" - 1166

“They were at the Friedheimer store and decided to stay there until the storm passed,” the narrator said, giving clues about the place of history. Most of the story takes place in Calixta and Bobinôt's house, and for a brief period at Friedheimer's with Bibi and Bobinôt. A third-person narrator who is not involved in the story tells the story. The tone of the story is exciting, sexual, passionate and maybe even a little dangerous. The tension between Calixta and Alcée is what gives the story a sexual and passionate feel, while the actions they take part in give it that dangerous feeling. They enter uncharted waters in the brief adventure they embark on. At first, you could say that Calixta's mood was worrying and distraught, as she worried about the safety of her husband and sons throughout life.
