  • Essay / My future in brief - 1165

Some people discover what their profession will be from a very young age, others discover it throughout their secondary studies and still others during their university life. I discovered what I wanted when I was in college. What made me realize that I wanted to major in accounting and finance was because I wasn't successful with the career choice I made the first time around. Sometimes you fail to see what you did wrong, then once you find out, you correct it. Whether to study harder or just give up is up to you. I didn't necessarily give up, I just knew the first choice I made wasn't for me. I started out thinking I wanted to major in nursing and quickly discovered it wasn't for me. I originally wanted to become a nurse because I loved the idea of actually being able to help people and save lives. What I didn't realize was that I was going to have to deal with what I call the "nasty stuff" that came with it: blood, bedpans and other things of that nature. But when I discovered that I still wanted to help people but in another profession. So I set out on a quest to find the best thing that paid well, but could also help people in some way. I thought about becoming a dentist, but I didn't really want to examine people's mouths or deal with their smell. I also thought about becoming a politician, but the idea of the process I thought I would have to go through gave me a headache, so that was taken out. So I came to the conclusion that I was pretty good at math (I could add, subtract, multiply and divide) and came up with the idea of majoring in business. The next thing was to decide what specifically to specialize in. I could do management, marketing, acc...... middle of paper ...... and people who could do the job just as well. (Profession Profile)Going to college is not the easiest thing to do. You may have to take out loans that you will eventually have to repay. You will be stressed and may feel like you can't do it or finish it, but know that you are making a great investment in your future. You are preparing not only for a good life, but also for your future wife and children. If you fail the first time in your career choice or even in a course, keep trying until you succeed in what you want to be. Those who don't try never win and those who win are tired.
