  • Essay / The Holocaust in Germany: The Holocaust and the Holocaust

In the late thirties and forties, the Holocaust occurred. The Holocaust was the mass genocide of eleven million Jews and other undesirables. We learn about this event to remember all those who lost their lives and to ensure that something this horrible never happens again. An Austrian named Adolf Hitler who had served in the German army during World War I believed that Germans were better than others because of their DNA, and that all other races must be exterminated to create what he calls for a utopian society. After hearing about Germany's surrender in World War I in a hospital recovering from a mustard gas attack, Adolf Hitler thought he needed to take control of the government to carry out his plans. In an attempt to overthrow the German government by force, Adolf was arrested. He was supposed to go to prison for five years; however, during his time in prison, he wrote a book called Mein Kampf, which means My Struggles in English. The book was about Hitler's life, his ideas about bloodline cleansing, world domination and utopian society, and how he was going to achieve this. He called it “the final solution.” Thanks to the money and the popularity of his book, he was released from prison after just nine months. Once released from prison, he would be appointed chancellor by the German president in 1933. From this position, he declared that if the president died or resigned, he would become a dictator. When the president died shortly thereafter, he proclaimed himself dictator. Once he became dictator, he created the Nuremberg Laws, which removed many Jewish rights. He also began calling undesirables into the death camps, which marked the beginning of the Holocaust. There were over fifteen thousand concentration camps/...... middle of paper ...... uh, two whole years spent in hiding. , Fifteen-year-old Anne and her family are found by the police and arrested. They were sent to numerous camps including Auschwitz. Anne died with her older sister, Margot, in Bergen Belsen. The only family member to survive was Otto Frank, Anne's father. Once he found and read Anne's diary, he made sure it was published around the world so people could see what happened in Germany. Horrible things happened in Europe during World War II and millions of people died. The Holocaust is one of the greatest genocides ever committed in human history, which is why we study it to remember it. Remembering the horrible things that happened during the Holocaust and all the poor Jews and other undesirables who lost their lives will hopefully ensure that something this disgusting, of this magnitude, never happens again..
