The Hunger Games is a popular novel written by Suzanne Collins. In the story, Katniss Everdeen, a sixteen-year-old girl, volunteers to replace her younger sister in the annual Hunger Games. The games are a competition in which children are drawn to fight to the death. They are designed by the Capitol, the power that governs. The fight against nuclear energy in the Middle East is very important. On the surface, these two events do not appear to have much in common, but by looking at more specific elements of the two, many similarities can be found. The competition filming in The Hunger Games may show how biased documentaries are on important political topics. A young man created a documentary on the situation of nuclear issues in the Middle East. The documentary was called The Unclear Truth. The film was also a winner of the first Tehran International Independent Filmmakers Festival in 2012. This documentary interviews many different members of society and their views on the modern struggle in the Middle East. The film is very biased in the sense that it only gives one side of the story. The interviewees are members of Middle Eastern countries who believe that Palestine must be liberated and all violence must end. Most of these people blame everything that is wrong on America or England. The title of the documentary causes most to stop and think about a very important question before even watching the film. Why isn't the truth clear? Truth should be any openly expressed opinion or statement. The truth should never be unclear. The truth is something everyone clings to. Truth is one of the few subjects in life that people depend on to be whole. Truth should embody the sworn testimony that in the middle of a paper there is only one person to argue each side of the argument. If only one side is represented, it's biased and it's not good. Readers of The Hunger Games understand how images in The Hunger Games can be manipulated. They can then take this information with them if they see a documentary making a very popular, and likely political, argument. Documentaries can be edited at the discretion of the director. This makes the truth unclear. This should never happen. The truth should be sound. Viewers of the documentary could learn more about video editing from The Hunger Games.
