  • Essay / The Last Spin Short Story - 1516

Q1: What was the boys' relationship like at the beginning? In this short story “The Last Spin” by Evan Hunter, the very first sentence shows the unusual relationship between Tigo and Danny. And the writer personifies “the jacket” who tells Danny that Tigo is his enemy. Tigo wore a green silk jacket with an orange stripe on each sleeve and Danny wore a blue and gold jacket, representing that he is in a gang. As the guys in the gang know, because of their symbol or appearances. Q 2: What do they achieve from each other? In this story where there is a violent and bitter enmity between them, where as the story progresses with each gunshot, they get to know each other very closely and realize various common personal information, such as they both belong to gangs, they both like guns, they don't want to like guys, they both call their mother "an old lady", they both have a sense of humor in saying they can lose weight with this kind of game, they both have "girls", they both want to join the army, they both want to fuck the club. At the end of this story, they became friends. It seems like they're mostly talking about themselves rather than their gang work. Q3: How do they feel before the last round? How do we know? In the last part, the story was twisted where they both exchanged their thoughts to leave the gang and plan to go to the lake with their chicks in one boat. They became friends. This change in the two characters occurs only before the “last turn”. It seems like they don't have any personal issues with each other, it's a result of what they decided to do for their gangs..Q4: How do Danny and Tigo begin to discover what do they have in common? Danny and Tigo were... ..... middle of paper ......these to become victims, even children are in danger. Every year they choose any body with this black drawing slip saying to die, where no human being is safe. What makes "The Lottery" so exciting is how quickly the villagers turn on the victim (Tessie).8. c. Rate the story on a scale of zero to 10 and explain why you gave it that rating. I gave this story 2 out of 10. How heartbreaking it is after reading the story, when a woman is hit by another human being, the worst was even the children. No rules had been set to stop killing or ban this game. Where every year, anyone like "Tessie" (a victim, protagonist) has to sacrifice her life by the people of her own village, especially by her own family. The 2 issues were only for the first opening paragraph where everything seems normal with the start of the beautiful June morning day..
