Ironically, the Lincoln Ice Hockey Association was formed in 1970 when two different people, on the same day, approximately two hours apart, approached the senior director of the university's recreation department with the same idea of ​​creating the Lincoln Ice Hockey Association. Oddly enough, even their first names were the same. The head of the department gave each man his contact information. The Beginning: A freshman, Steve Jacobs, and a senior, Steve Spady, met for the first time and they began thinking seriously about starting the Lincoln Ice Hockey Association. After meeting with Bob Devaney, the athletic director, they completed the paperwork within a year and were off to the races.
