  • Essay / American reality TV music competition.

Reality music competitions are something really famous, especially in the United States. This essay is about The X Factor, The American Idol and The Voice. The X Factor USA was created by Simon Cowell. The show consists of four main scenes. It all starts with the auditions. Any person or group can audition, and if at least half of the judges say yes, then the person moves on to the next stage, but if they say no, the contestant goes home. The next step is the bootcamp. There they face other competitors. During the bootcamp, judges separate participants into groups (children and adolescents, groups, aged 16 to 24 and 25 and over). The next stop is the “judge’s house”. There, the judges invite a celebrity to help them decide who will move on to the next stage after attending a show at their home. The final stage is the live shows. Once the contestants have shown that they can really sing, they go on stage where they must perform for a live audition. At this point, they eliminate certain people in each episode until there are only three contestants left. In the last episode, they say who gets third place, and finally the two finalists compete against each other and the winner receives a prize. Until 2014, the prize was a $5 million recording contract, but now the prize has changed and the winner receives $5 million in cash and financial support to help them manage their money over five years. Some examples of people or groups who went on The X Factor and became famous are One Direction who went to The X Factor UK, as did Little Mix, Cher Lloyd, Emblem3, who are now touring with their new album Nothing to Lose, Fifth.
