  • Essay / Using a streamlined and systematic methodology to design...

2.0 METHODOLOGYThe key to a successful project is having a methodical approach that describes not only the process but also how the process should be carried out, which will allow to streamline the process, thus reducing the delivery time, increasing the value of the final result and making the project efficient. (Oppenheimer, 2004) explains that networks that are created with complexity most of the time do not work as they are supposed to, are not scalable and do not meet requirements. It therefore suggests that the solution to this problem is to use a streamlined and systematic methodology to design or upgrade a network.2.1 RESEARCH QUESTIONThe research project was carried out to answer the following question “Infrastructure Analysis and Design of Data Network, for MaltHouse Engineering” In order to address the question in more detail, the problem domain was broken down into smaller questions as shown below: • Analyze the features, performance and capabilities of the existing network. • Evaluate critical technology, applications and services. • Specify and describe the current term, near-term and long-term design solution, based on requirements, applications and business processes. • Design and implement or recommend a reliable, secure and scalable solution, integrating the best practice network infrastructure design that provides businesses with a guideline for operating in and investing in modern network technology.2.2 STUDY DESIGNThe research work was based on MaltHouse Engineering Ltd, the authorization to conduct the study at MaltHouse was agreed under the Knowledge Transfer Partnership Program, where the network of the said company is to be assessed and its capabilities, improvements...... middle of document ......re as L The bottom-up approach may not take into account all necessary applications and services, which may lead to a design that does not meet needs, which may lead to it needing to be redesigned.2.6 IMPLEMENTATIONThe recommended design has been partially implemented by MaltHouse engineering and tested, as well as monitored during the operational phase. A proof of concept model was implemented in a laboratory environment to implement, test and monitor the entire recommended design.2.7 CONCLUSIONIn summary, iterative methodology is generally better for new concepts and methodology in waterfall is good for implementing changes to existing systems or designing large scale systems, where prototypes have already been used for proof of concept, the PPDIOO methodology gave the required structure, which influenced the result and the completion of the project, as well as resolution of the research problem.
