    Abraham Lincoln, arguably the best president of the United States, is said to have experienced bouts of depression during his presidency. Whether it was the death of his youngest son, Tad, or the collapse of the United States, Abraham Lincoln had a lot to consider. Did these bouts of depression hinder his ability to be president, or did they allow him to separate himself from others and think without distraction about the problems facing America? Not everyone had to deal with the same issues as Abraham Lincoln, but many have experiences that cause depression or low mood throughout their lives. Although some people consider depression a mental disorder, depression or low mood is actually beneficial in that human ancestors were depressed in order to stay healthy, in order to cope with unfavorable situations and that the Individuals suffering from depression are very analytical. For human ancestors to survive, it was beneficial for them to be depressed when danger lurked around them so as not to be exposed to it.
